Bazz recently had an amazing find in central Victoria Australia.
I recently visited the Gold Centre Maryborough shop in Victoria wanting to trade in my detector and coils to upgrade to a second hand MINELAB GPX 4500 and I chose a COILTEK 10 x 5" Joey coil.
Wow! This was the best thing that I have ever done!
I decided to go out this particular day in my old Commodore wagon with my dog as company. I had my new GPX 4500 and the 10 x 5" Joey coil. Where to start once I reached my destination was my next decision. I took a stroll to make my mind up, walking some hillsides and gullies. As I was already in the Dunolly goldfields my decision was to not search near any old diggings as I believe these areas have already been flogged enough. I searched out an area that looked like it would be gold bearing and it also had some usual indicators that this could be a potential spot. To my surprise I came across a very strong signal. I dug up a huge 13 ounce nugget. Over the next couple of months I found 25 pieces of gold ranging from .11g to the 405grammer.
Prior to my move to Dunolly in Victoria Australia I didn't have much detecting experience but with some extra help and advice I am now very happy with my recent results.
The combination of my MINELAB GPX 4500 with the COILTEK 10 x 5"Joey coil is worth every penny. I found the coil lightweight making detecting for longer easier, I would like to thank COILTEK for making this little beauty, the Joey coil.
Cheers for now and happy hunting.

We recently received this from a US prospector who found some nice nuggets using the GPX 5000 and Coiltek 24 X 14.
This was my third trip to this particular site in last few weeks, initially I found a streak of 11 nuggets scattered downhill for 50 yards, totalling over 1 oz. The second trip I detected for a couple of hours still using my favourite combination, GPX 5000 and Coiltek 14 X 9 coil, but found nothing, so I took a stroll. After 200 yards or so I found my largest nugget to date 1.40 oz., approximately 14" deep. I detected the general area for a few hours but could not find another nugget.
On my last successful trip I toted the Coiltek 14 X 24 to the site where the one ounce was found and within five minutes and 10 yards away I received a good deep signal. This area has fairly quiet soil so the mono coils with normal and general settings work well without ground interference, yet there are places where the GPX 5000 will signal on mineralized ground. I have dug a number of dry holes at this site and switching over to tracking to test, or enhance, or fine gold is not always reliable having dug several nuggets that those setting would not detect. I did switch over to check the target and received positive responses on all and the signal volume increased as I dug deeper. Having a difficult time pinpointing with the large coil and getting tired from digging a large hole in the hard quartz gravel I replaced the big coil with the 14 X 9 and after narrowing the signal I kept digging.
Needless to say I was surprised at the depth, around 28", by far the deepest nugget and probably the largest I will ever dig, nearly 7 oz. After a few minutes, I replaced the coil with the 24 X 14 and a few yards away found another nugget weighing over ½ oz., approximately 14" deep. I hunted the area for hours, gridding the entire hilltop but only found two additional nuggets, both small and only a couple inches deep. I did return to the site after finding the big nugget but found nothing, not to say I found it all but this hilltop is large and hasn't given up a lot of finds but the ones found were nice.
Testing the New COILTEK 15" All Terrain X-TERRA 7.5kHz coil. By Randy Horton (aka Digger) July 2011
I spent a great deal of time recently, testing the new Coiltek 15" ALL TERRAIN X-TERRA 7.5kHz coil. I tested it in my test plot, the local park and some "wide open" farm sites. In testing, I made direct comparisons on all targets with both the 10.5 inch Minelab DD at 7.5 kHz as well as the 9-inch concentric at 7.5 kHz. Here is a summary of my results…..
As one might expect, none of the three coils implemented the same Noise Cancel Channel at any given location. However, the proper channel was selected for each coil, prior to testing procedures. The Threshold level was checked for each coil and a setting of 2 was chosen for my 705, using Gray Ghost NDT headphones.
I am very pleased to say after using Coiltek Manufacturing's new Battery System for GPX Detectors for several weeks it has Truly Proved its Capability to Preform all day while producing Constant full voltage to Detector Control Box.
I found the Audio Very Clear with the Booster Volume Control being a bonus as it saved time by not needing to Change the Menu Settings during Various Wind/Noise conditions if required.
I cannot stress the Value of having the Power Light and On/Off Button ,not only does it help Prevent Battery Discharge but also Acts as a safety feature, especially when Constantly placing detector in vehicle or changing coils,as one can be sure the Detector is Off therefore Preventing Possible Control Box Damage.
The small light compact size of battery has been a added bonus as I have attached the battery directly onto the Control Box for my purpose thus Eliminating the need for the Traditional Harness and Power Cable with No Detrimental effect or Interference to the Detector.
Thanks for Another Great Product,

Coiltek Supports Local Gathering
On behalf of the Gold Detecting & Prospecting Forum, I would sincerely like to thank Coiltek for your support of our forum get together weekend at Laanecoorie this past Queens Birthday long weekend.
The event was attended by well over 40 people of which most stayed for the whole weekend. I think the nugget count ended up well over 50 pieces which for a well flogged area was fantastic.
The weekend started with the group assembling at the Laanecoorie test pit where we broke up into 2 group, those with 5000's and those with older machines which ended up being a majority of 4500's. Some great coil knowledge was passed onto all members, discussion of what to look for in the field and then some time was spent testing different coils on targets at different depths.
After talking to QLD Sandy of Gold City Detecting about an area where I have been working with coils from 6 to 25" and thought I cleaned it out, he suggested that I test run the new 14 x 9" Coiltek Goldstalker Blitz Series Mono coil on the area.
The blitz coil is very light and was easy to ground balance and not as noisy as the 17 x 11" elliptical or the 11" round that I had been using. The size is ideal to get in and around the abundant grass, responses to targets is very good and depth on smaller targets is very good because of the quiet running.
I tested this coil over 4 x 1/2 day trips to this area.
Day 1: Found the coil to ground balance quickly was impressed by the depth of one small piece of gold (0.70 grams) that was found at about 6 to 8 inches deep.
I hadn't found any pieces at this area before under 1 gram.
It was a bad EMI day, but the coil was running smoother than my other coils.
Day 2: Coil ran a lot smoother today, less EMI. Really happy with it. Ran sweet.
Was finding gold in places, that I know I had been all over with other coils many times before.
Day 3: The test was done in misting rain and very windy conditions and I was able to run the Detector on a gain of 14 on the 5000 without winding back all day, while the larger coils had to be wound down considerably.
I tested the coil against another brand of the same size and found the Blitz to have the extra sensitivity to punch through the grass better to pick up small targets.
Day 4: Found 8 small pieces of gold today, with 2 of the smallest pieces that I have found so far, 0.2, 0.4 grams and one at 0.80 grams.
Over the 4 trips I found a total of 30 pieces of gold ranging from 0.20 grams to 89.45 grams. Total weight of 323.55 grams or 10.40 ozs of species.
Not bad for an area that had been cleaned out by other coils.
For the tests I was using a Minelab GPX5000 running Enhance timings.
Another bonus is that I can wear my Garret Pinpointer on my harness, with no interference from the detector. I can't do this with the larger coils.
This coil is a must for the serious prospector, light weight, great depth, quiet and extremely sensitive.
I am going to add one to my collection.
With 30 years of experience, I am very particular about the performance of any coil I use and the 14x9" GOLDSTALKER® Blitz series mono ticks all the boxes for me. I found it to be stable and very sensitive on small targets, along with amazing depth on larger targets.
I found a sub gram nugget in medium to heavy mineralised ground at 8" and a solid signal 6 feet away produced an 1816 George III shilling at 14" deep.
I used the 14x9" GOLDSTALKER® Blitz mono for a day on areas I have searched for years. The number of musket balls, bullets, and other junk targets along with 4 nuggets and the shilling, pleasantly surprised me.
Thanks for the production of the new 22” round and 24”x14” Goldstalker coils which I’m happy to say are already producing great results from previously worked ground.
On receiving the coils I immediately put the 24”x14” to work on a large well chained WA patch using both the GPX5000/4500. I was quickly rewarded with 10 nuggets due to the excellent coverage and depth capabilities of the coil.
With the 22” round, I selected an area of deeper ground which had been worked several times with various large coils, my first impression was how amazingly light and easy to swing the coil was for its size.
The area quickly produced 15 nuggets for less than 2 hours work, at this stage I knew the area was still viable and had to be re-worked with both the new coils.
The end result was 174 grams from a total of 8 hot full days. All the gold was discovered from ground showing multiple chain marks, which I am sure, well over a hundred or so detector operators had recently thrashed, with just about every other coil on the market.
Please find attached pictures of my excellent results and thanks again for another Great Product.

In 2009, I found a large patch of gold in Western Australia. From which I obtained over 400 ounces of GOLD, using a Minelab GP Extreme fitted with a Coiltek Lithium Ion regulated battery set up and a Coiltek 24 inch UFO coil.
Family commitments meant I had to return home before checking for any missed deep targets. I returned this year 2010 and used a few different settings on the GP Extreme, using the regulated system and the 24 inch Coiltek UFO coil and the mini UFO coils. I found around 20 deep targets and over one hundred nuggets, all the deep targets were specimen or reef gold in rock, some took up to 40 hours to chisel out with gold amounts from 5 ounces up to 55 ounces.
Having completed this exercise, I fitted a 24 inch Coiltek DD coil to the GP Extreme and re-gridded the patch, I received no extra signals.
I got my SD 2200 out with the regulated system on and the 24 inch Coiltek DD coil fitted, set it in deep mode then I re-gridded the patch. I found five extra targets, one of which took sixty hours to chisel out. I finished up with over 200 extra ounces from the patch, making the total over 600 ounces all up.
The combination of the Minelab detectors and the Coiltek coils coupled with the Coiltek regulated battery system optimised the amount of gold I was able to get off the patch.

This picture is Gold found in a small area (3m by 2m) using the 6" mono over 3 days on ground that has been systematically detected with various coil sizes.
The ground is very hot that a 1gm piece can only be detected about 3"- 5" with 14" mono in Enhance Mode on GPX4500.
Total of 242 bits ranging from sub 0.1 gram to 8.2 grams for a total weight 162 grams over a small area. Also attached is a picture of 148 grams found with the 14" mono previously over the same location.

Many thanks for making an Anti-Interference (salt coil) in the 24"x12" configuration for Mark and me. The reasons for requesting a coil in that shape were two-fold. Firstly having spent many hours detecting on salt lakes we were of the opinion we needed a coil that had enough length to allow for a nice even step of about 18" when gridding. And secondly, we wanted to have good coverage while patch finding with the same coil. Since the coil has arrived we have spent a lot of time running tests with it and found it to be the perfect coil for our requirements. It is extremely sensitive on small gold and gives excellent coverage when patch finding. Our tests were conducted on old patches as we wanted to run it "on gold" to see how it performed.
Recently we have been working our way down a drainage system that lead to a salt lake . We were using DD`s until we got to the lake and then broke out the 24x12 salty for its first run on virgin ground. Within a half hour I hit a small piece that lead to a very tight little patch. Six of the nuggets were found in a half meter square . The ability to hit small targets while patch finding is a big advantage. As you can see from the photos some of the pieces were sub gram. An excellent result for a big coil.
Again, many thanks for taking the time to make a coil like this!
Best regards,
Gerry and Mark

When working a well known patch in WA with moderate success with the new Coiltek Manufacturing GOLDSTALKER™ coils on the GPX4500. I decided to try my Coiltek 24DD Pro and 27 x21 MONO coils as the location is a known deep gold producer.
The area had been seriously chained with great results by other good operators so I wasn’t surprised for negative results on the first day with the large 24dd Pro coil.
Within a hour on the second morning I received a very weak signal on some old chain marks, to clarify the target I fitted the 27 x 21 mono to the GPX4500 and was surprised to hear a very distinct signal about 6” higher than the 24dd pro considering how noisy the ground conditions were.
The 2.1kg specie took over 4 hours to extract and was over 1meter deep thru multiple layers of gravel wash.
The area produced an extra 22oz including another specie found with the mono with over 14oz of gold at a similar depth.
This is the Pictures of the 2.1kg Specie containing 34oz Gold I found using the 24dd early this year.
Why Coiltek?
For the last five years I have only used Coiltek coils coupled with the latest Minelab detector.
There are a number of reasons why I choose Coiltek over all others, the first being when I contact Coiltek via e-mail or phone they talk to me or respond to any problems or information I need it is all about service, the other is these Coiltek coils have never let me down and have found them second to none for sensitivity and durability and as a prospector/detector operator I need to know I am getting value for money.
But the big question is do they find gold?
On my last 2 outings I have found over 3 ounces ranging from point 8 of a gram to over an ounce in areas that have had every coil and detector known to man go over the ground, so the answer must be yes, they do find good gold.
I do not believe I am the best detector operator, but what I am is diligent and couple that with the best Coiltek coils and the best Minelab detector how can you not find gold?
Remember it's your money, spend it wisely and give your self the best shot at paying for that new coil next time out. The choice is yours.

I found my first and only nugget so far with the 18" Elliptical GOLDSTALKER™ (GS), just last Wednesday actually.
It is a 3.4 gm found at 6 inches with a well defined signal.
The conditions were very bad last Wednesday in Kalgoorlie, the wind pressure was so strong I had problems holding the detector level. The atmospheric disturbances overwhelmed the 4500 and auto tune was almost a waste of time giving the headphones were chirping like a cage full of canaries .
The heat and dryness of the air was trying, my concentration was being tested not to mention the area’s mineralization was very high and largely a rough surface to test. Think of the worst of a weathers day and area to detect, that's where I was, somewhere in hells backyard, squinting out the dust through my sandblasted eyeballs.
Even though that was the case, I knew this was a good spot and I was desperate to find something.
I admit, I was 10 minutes away from starting the rodeo and heading back to town. If it weren't for the low trash area I was in I may have left.
Through the odds at hand, the 4500, GS mono and my own mortality the detector and coil worked so well I found a tiny gold bit 3.4gmr encased in clay and ironstone.
It is such a small piece, I love it and have sent you a picture for kicks. I really couldn't believe my eyes you know. After just a few weeks of digging up false leads like rusted tin lids and bullets I break open this clay ironstone piece by piece, testing it with the coil none the wiser to be honest, still curious at the same time.
I am thrilled with the Coiltek and Minelab qualities.
Once again thanks, Geoff

I just spent a week in Montana metal detecting and a friend that lives up there offered to let me try his new GPX 4500, with a new 16" Coiltek elliptical GOLDSTALKER™ coil. I used it for about 3 hours and I was very impressed with how quiet it ran and I couldn't believe how lightweight and extremely sensitive it was.
Coiltek is a leader in the field and they did a great job with the GOLDSTALKER™ series coils. My Brother and I own several Coiltek coils and have found gold with all of them, from the "joey" to the UFO to the 24" round. They have performed excellently and are very durable, and we have never had any problems with them. It's good to see Coiltek is on the cutting edge again - manufacturing quality products.
